WILTON — The Wilton Fish and Game Association hosted a field day recently, which included three events: trap shooting, cowboy shooting and archery.

Charlie Tappan ran the trap shooting, a five-station event, with shooters firing shotguns at randomly thrown clay pigeons, moving to the next station until 25 shots were completed. The highest score won.

After lunch the cowboy shooting event started, demonstrated by Everett Gile, alias “Amos-T,” and Craig Schlor, alias “Gringo-Salado.” Eight targets were shot in a precise order. Once the demonstration was completed, people were invited to shoot the pistols, rifles and shotguns of that era.

The archery course was open all day and people learned about the sport. A 22-caliber shooting gallery ended the day.
