KENTS HILL — Olivier Knight-Rouleau netted his second goal of the game midway through the second overtime to lift Hebron to a 3-2 victory over Kents Hill in the MAISAD championship game Saturday.
Sam Blanchet and Knight Rouleau scored in the second half to stake the Lumberjacks to a 2-0 advantage. Kents Hill rallied for a pair of goals in the final five minutes of regulation to send the game into extra time.
Yago Novoa-Diaz stopped 10 Huskies shots to earn the win in the cage for Hebron.
Women’s hockey
Maine 3, Niagara 0
ORONO — Tori Pasquariello, Brittany Dougherty and Myriam Croussette all managed to find the back of the net as Maine skated to a 3-0 victory over Niagara Univeristy in women’s ice hockey action Saturday.
The Black Bears (7-5-1) started the scoring early in the first period with a goal from Pasquariello, her second of the season at 1:40 for a 1-0 lead.
Dougherty grabbed her eighth goal of the season in a short-handed situation, giving Maine a 2-0 lead at 8:03.
Croussette opened the third period with her ninth goal of the season just 32 seconds into play. Croussette was fed the puck by Dougherty and Melissa Gagnon.
Black Bear goalie Brittany Ott earned her first shutout of the season and the fifth of her career, making 19 saves. Abby Ryplanski took the loss for the Purple Eagles (6-6-2), despite making 29 saves on 32 shots.
Men’s hockey
UMass Lowell 4, Maine 3
ORONO — Brian Flynn scored a goal and added an assist, but it was not enough as UMass Lowell scored four third-period goals to earn a 4-3 victory in men’s ice hockey action at Alfond Arena on Saturday night.
Maine falls to 3-6-1 overall with the loss and 3-5-0 in Hockey East play. UMass Lowell improves to 5-3-0 overall and 3-2-0 in conference play.
Maine took a 1-0 lead at 12:17 of the first period when Flynn tipped a WIll O’Neill shot from the blueline past UMass Lowell goalie Doug Carr. For Flynn, it was his fourth goal of the season. Mike Cornell also assisted on the goal for the Black Bears. Maine took the 1-0 lead into the first intermission.
The Black Bears extended their lead to 2-0 with a power-play goal at 14:01. In transition, Spencer Abbott fed Flynn in the neutral zone. He got the puck to Mark Anthoine at the top of the face-off circle. Anthoine was able to elude his defender and broke in alone on Carr, beating him for his first goal of the season. Maine held a 2-0 lead after two periods.
