FARMINGTON — JP Fortier, executive director for Mt. Blue Community Access TV (MBTV), was installed onto the board of directors of the Alliance for Community Media — Northeast Region on Oct. 6 in Shrewsbury, Mass. Fortier serves with another Maine board member, Sally Hebert, of Greene.

Frotier represents the interests of community television in Maine and brings his many years of experience and knowledge to the Alliance. The Northeast Region encompasses Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New York, Rhode Island and Vermont.

The mission of the Alliance for Community Media is to advance democratic ideals by ensuring that people have access to electronic media and by promoting effective communication through community uses of media.

Fortier has served as executive director for Mt. Blue TV for the past 11 years. Through years of hard work and dedication, he has built MBTV from a one-room location in the basement of the Farmington Recreation Center to a high tech, fully equipped and operational television studio at Merrill Hall, UMF. MBTV offers citizens of the Farmington and Wilton area locally produced television programming on channel 11 on the Bee Line Cable TV Network. For more information visit www.mtbluetv.org.
