LEWISTON — Police are looking for a suspect involved in a stabbing at a Blake Street apartment Tuesday night.

Elmer Carter Jr., 56, suffered a stab wound to the right side, Lewiston police Sgt. Joseph Bradeen said. The injury was being evaluated Tuesday night by emergency room staff at Central Maine Medical Center but was not considered life-threatening, Lt. Marc Robitaille said.

The incident occured in Carter’s first-floor apartment at 104 Blake St. at about 11:20 p.m.

Police were searching Tuesday night for a white male, approximately 5 feet, 9 inches tall with black hair. The man appeared to be an acquaintance of Carter, Bradeen said.

The incident remains under investigation, Robitaille said.
