SKOWHEGAN, Maine (AP) — The owner of a Maine ski area has been hospitalized after being run over by a snow-grooming vehicle.

Police say 40-year-old David Beers and another man were trying to make repairs to the snow groomer at Eaton Mountain Ski Area in Skowhegan on Sunday when the 18,000 pound vehicle slipped into gear and rolled over Beers.

The victim, who lives in Massachusetts, suffered serious injuries and was flown by helicopter to the Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. There was no word on his condition.

The Morning Sentinel reports that Beers and his wife purchased the ski area about three years ago and were working to get it ready for the season when the accident happened.
