LEWISTON — Authorities arrested one man and are seeking a second in the beating of a man in New Gloucester who was attacked Wednesday morning while taking a walk.
Andrew V. Easter, 31, of 13 Pond Road, New Gloucester, was charged with Class A robbery. If convicted, he faces up to 30 years in prison.
Cumberland County Sheriff’s deputies responded to the Pond Road area to a report of the attack.
The victim, 29, who lives in the area, said he was beaten by two men with a baseball bat and threatened with a handgun. His attackers took his money and fled. The victim described his assailants and their getaway vehicle to authorities. He was taken to Central Maine Medical Center for treatment of his injuries.
He was listed Friday in stable condition with head injuries and facial fractures, authorities said.
Based on the victim’s descriptions, authorities arrested Easter on Thursday at his home.
