FARMINGTON — Dr. Kathryn Dingley Gurney, O.D., owner of Family Optometry in Farmington, is the new president of the Maine Optometric Association. The ceremony took place Dec. 2 at a meeting of the association in South Portland.

Gurney is a native of Farmington who, after graduation from the University of Maine at Orono and the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, returned to her hometown in 1998 to practice eye care. She purchased the practice from Dr. Maurice Knapp in 2007.

She is married and has two sons.
