SOUTH WINDHAM — The Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals, New England’s largest equine rescue and rehabilitation center, announces it has hired Michelle Melaragno of Auburn as its volunteer coordinator.
Melaragno brings an abundance of animal welfare experience to the society and has worked with other Maine nonprofits to develop and implement robust volunteer programs. She is a former manager at the Pineland Farms Equestrian Center and most recently served as the first chairperson of the all-volunteer Maine Equine Welfare Alliance.

The Maine State Society for the Protection of Animals is a tax-exempt, 501(c)(3) public charity and receives no federal, state or local government funding.
