LEWISTON — George E. Gilman, 78, of Oxford, passed away on Friday, March 16, at Central Maine Medical Center.
He was born in Lewiston, Feb. 23, 1934, to George E. and Mary Ann (Saltis) Gilman. George graduated from Lewiston High School in 1952. He married Anne Gilman, who passed away on Sept. 5, 2000. He worked for Robinson Manufacturing for 30 years, until his retirement.
He was an avid watcher of sports, enjoyed the Red Sox, Patriots, Celtics and Bruins. He loved talking politics, the outdoors and walking. He made many friends and especially enjoyed being around his grandchildren.
George is survived by his three children, Jeff Gilman of Oxford, Charlie Gilman of South Paris and Alice and husband, Jim Varney, of Poland; two grandchildren, Derek Varney of Massachusetts, and Tina Varney of Poland; two stepsisters, Lisa and Lynn; and his companion of six years, Dot Sessions of Norway.
