AUBURN — Janet Dee (Lyman) Eustis, 47, of Auburn, formerly of Greene, passed away peacefully at home on Monday, March 26. She was surrounded by the love of her family, those who could be by her side and those who kept her in their thoughts and prayers, providing comfort to her in her final days.
She was born in Lewiston, Nov. 10, 1964, to Barbara and Harland Lyman, Janet was the 4th of six sisters. Janet was a talented woman, a loving wife, mother and grandmother, who touched many lives with her generous spirit and friendly demeanor.
She graduated from Casco Bay College, and was a legal secretary for most of her professional career. She worked for Isaacson & Raymond in Lewiston and for the last 15 years in the Business Group at Pierce Atwood, in Portland. She was a team leader and always willing to do whatever it took to get things done for those with whom she worked.
She had an affinity for cooking and sewing and she channeled these interests and skills into many of her favorite activities. Cooking with the finest ingredients was a priority for her and a reflection of her belief that everything tasted better with quality ingredients. Desserts and baked goods were her specialty.
Her love of cooking and an appreciation of fine china inspired her dream of opening a tea house. She had an extensive collection of tea cups and services and would attend auctions to add to her collection of tea items and linens for her tea house to be.
Janet loved to travel and she and her family have been to Canada, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, England, Scotland, Amsterdam, Holland and Ireland. For their 25th wedding anniversary, Janet and Mark enjoyed a trip to Quebec City, and just this past November indulged in a dream trip to Ireland. She and her family also enjoyed spending summer vacations on Islesboro.
She was a longtime member of the Greene Baptist Church, where she was a youth leader, Sunday school teacher and church clerk. She also was very involved with the Woman’s Literary Union in Auburn, where she had been president of the After Dark Club and served as the Special Events Committee Chair.
Janet is survived by her loving husband of 25 years, Mark; daughters, Anastasia Eustis, Marlaina Eustis, Victoria Martin and her husband, DJ; grandson, Liam Martin; her parents, Harland and Barbara Lyman; sisters, Pam Perron and her husband, Richard, Lisa Bubier and her husband, Brian, Linda Harris and her husband, Jim, Jodi Beck and her husband, Doug, and Jadine Crane and her husband, David; and many nieces and nephews.
