LEWISTON — HealthSteps, an education and prevention program for adults at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center, offers a wide range of classes with the core membership fee as well as a variety of specialty classes, including:
Anusara-Inspired Yoga: Open to new and experienced students. Relieves muscle tension, stress and aches and pains. Mondays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 23 to June 4, Lepage Large Conference Room, 99 Campus Ave.; cost, $75.
Bellydancing Aerobics: Bellydancing provides cardiovascular exercise and tones muscles. No prior dance experience is required; class suitable for all ages, skill levels and body types. Stockings or bare feet are recommended. Wednesdays, 6:30 to 7 p.m. April 4 to May 9, YWCA, 130 East Ave.; cost, $45.
Gentle Exercise: The class is designed for those with arthritis, recovering from cancer or others who desires a mild form of exercise. It helps improve range of motion, strength, posture, balance and coordination. Hip Hop Cardio: Intense cardio combined with hip hop moves. Thursdays, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. April 19 to May 17, Chase Hall, Bates College, Campus Avenue; cost, $25 or $10 for HealthSteps Core members.
Lose with Me: A 12-week weight loss session focused on helping make healthier lifestyle choices. Classes include goal setting, exercise recommendations, nutrition education and peer support. Wednesdays, noon to 12:30 p.m. April 4 to June 20; instructors, Jamie Pepin, MS RD, and Jennifer Smith, MS; WorkMed Conference Room, Auburn Medical Building, 15 Gracelawn Road, Auburn; cost, $99.
Prenatal Yoga: Work to open and strengthen legs, back and pelvic floor, improve postural alignment to alleviate back pain, and practice breath and meditation exercises. Qigong: Visualize and activate Qi with both quiet and active Qigong. Tuesdays, 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. April 3 to May 8; instructor, Jason Grundstrum-Whitney; d’Youville Pavilion, Resident Dining Room, 102 Campus Ave.; cost, $40.
Racquetball: Specific time slots are available for registration Monday to Friday on the hour for an hour from 6 a.m. to noon. Cost, with core HealthSteps membership, is $20 for the winter/spring session which runs from Jan. 3 to May 25; without membership: hour, once a week, $75; hour twice a week, $144.
Senior Fitness: The one-hour class provides participants with a safe and effective workout that includes a warm-up, cardiovascular component, resistance training, balance and flexibility exercises. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, 9:15 to 10:15 or 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. April 16 to May 18; instructor, Johanne Healey; d’Youville Pavilion Resident Dining Room, 102 Campus Ave.; cost, $32.
