FARMINGTON — Kent C. Wiles and Rhonda A. Wiles-Rosell, co-owners of Wiles Remembrance Center: Cremation Service and Funeral Home of Farmington, Jay, Dixfield and Wilton, announce the addition of Stephan M. Bunker of Farmington to the staff.
Bunker has been a resident of Farmington since his high school days, graduating from Farmington High School in 1967. Following a tour in the U.S. Army, Military Police Corps, he returned to Maine where he enrolled at Southern Maine Vocational Technical Institute, graduating in 1972 with an associate of arts degree in law enforcement technology.
He later transferred to the University of Southern Maine, completing a bachelor of science degree in criminal justice in 1974. Continuing his education part time, he received a master of education degree in adult education from the University of Maine at Orono in 1977. He is an adjunct faculty in the Maine Community College system.
During his 40 years in public safety, he has been a military and municipal police officer, deputy sheriff, corrections officer, EMT, emergency dispatcher and police academy cadre. He recently retired from state service where he was the manager for all 911 dispatcher training and education. He is a military retiree, having served 23 years in the U.S. Coast Guard Reserves, where he attained the rank of lieutenant commander.
Bunker continues his public service as a firefighter (since 1978), with the Farmington Fire Department and serves as a selectman for the town of Farmington, currently as chairman.
He also serves on the Franklin County Budget Committee. He is the current vice president for the Maine Municipal Association, executive committee, which involves him in many state/local public policy issues.
He is a member of the BPOE 2430 and the Roderick-Crosby American Legion Post 28 of Farmington. He is married to Cheryl (Walker), a long-term employee of the Franklin Memorial Hospital accounting department. They live on Bailey Hill Road where they enjoy gardening and landscaping and share the love of travel and the outdoors.
Bunker joins the rest of the team, that includes Eric L. Nelson, licensed funeral director, of Jay; Don LeSuer of Jay; Ernie Lowell of Farmington; and Troy Nelson of Dixfield.
