GREENE — On Friday, April 27,  the Sawyer Memorial will show the film “Around the World: One Man’s Journey,” a retrospective of a lifetime of travel by veteran travelogue producer Doug Jones.

The film — drawn from more than 500,000 feet of motion-picture film and shot in 60 countries on six continents — follows a circuitous route around the world. Many places were filmed more than once during the course of several decades.

Highlights include the Taj Mahal, Kamakura Buddha, Pyramids, treasures of Tutankhamen, Eiffel Tower, Big Ben, Berlin Wall, Iguazu Falls, MachuPicchu, Carnaval in Rio, Great Wall of China and glaciers of Alaska.

Featured destinations are as diverse as Hollywood to Hong Kong, Moscow to Brunei, Tokyo to the Amazon.

In this visual travel memoir of his 40 years filming the world, Jones shows how the world has changed and how photography has advanced; and exposes viewers to an impressive assortment of cultures and nations.

“Around the World” will be shown at 2 and 7 p.m. Admission is free. Sawyer Memorial is at 371 Sawyer Road.
