LEWISTON — Lewiston Fire Chief Paul LeClair announces the promotion of John Daniels to the rank of captain, and William “JR” Wallace and Kevin Roux to the rank of lieutenant.
Daniels began his career as a firefighter with the Lewiston Fire Department in May 1985 and was promoted to lieutenant in September 1993. He holds an associate degree from Southern Maine Community College, is a Certified Firefighter I and II instructor, and a member of the International Association of Arson Investigators.
LeClair also referenced the many years of experience that Daniels brings to his new position. His duties will include taking command of the fire scene and overseeing the ordering and maintenance of firefighting gear, clothing and household supplies for the department.
Wallace joined the department in April 2002. His firefighting credentials include: EMT-B, Certified Fire Officer II, Certified Fire Instructor II, Maine Fire Service Institute instructor, hazardous materials tech, confined space rescue tech and wildland firefighter. His first assignment as lieutenant is Central Station’s Engine No. 7.
Roux began his tenure with the city at the Public Works Department in 1997. In September 2000, he joined the Fire Department and has served on numerous assignments. Roux has continued his education in the field of fire science and has been a certified peer fitness trainer for the department since 2008. His first assignment as lieutenant is Main Street substation’s Engine No. 5.
