STRONG — June Esma Haggan Durrell, 95, passed away of natural causes on April 22, at home in Strong.

She was born in Phillips, June 2, 1916, the daughter of Carlton B. And Manette L. Haggan. June was educated in the Phillips schools and graduated from high school in 1934. She spent four happy summers working at York’s Camps in Rangeley.

June attended Gray’s Business School in Portland. She worked as a secretary for several businesses including Forster’s Lumber Office. Her first marriage was to Raymond Clinch with whom she had two daughters. In 1954, she married Clifford Durrell and worked side-by-side with him in his grocery store. They were both active in the Oppalunski Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star, Aurora Grange of Strong and were members of the Strong United Methodist Church, where she was a Sunday School teacher for many years.

She is survived by her two daughters, Judith Allen of Strong and Sharon Huff and husband, Charlie, of Jay; her brother, Harold Haggan and wife, Betty, of Strong; her aunt, Zelda Harnden, currently residing in the Victorian Villa Nursing Home in Canton; grandchildren, Cynthia Thomas of Strong, Wendy Pond and husband, John, of New Sharon, Jerry Allen of New Sharon, Jeannie Gaudet and husband, Matthew, of Jay, Laurie Webb and husband, John, of Arundel and Charlie Huff III of Bangor; 14 great-grandchildren; 10 great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

June was predeceased by her parents; her husband, Clifford Durrell; two sisters, Anita Storer and Florice Sanders; and two brothers, Howard Haggan and Ronald Haggan.
