RING — Carleton B., died April 24. A service celebrating his life will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 3, at the High Street Congregational Church, 106 Pleasant St., in Auburn, with reception following. Carleton was a generous person with his time, energies, and money. One of his greatest interests in the last few years of his life was making charitable contributions to what eventually numbered several 100 organizations. He decided that every cause was worthy so he wanted to make contributions to all of them. In the last month or so, he prodded his daughter to help him get to the bottom of the box where he stored his pending contributions and, on the day of his death, the box was empty, with Carleton having completed giving to every organization that ever asked him for support. The family is appreciative of the outpouring of support and love from friends and the larger community, but is feeling overwhelmed by the loss of both mother and father in such a short period of time. In the spirit of Carleton’s generosity, rather than write more cards of condolence, the family suggests that people show their support for the family and Carleton by writing a check, whether large or small, to the charity of their choice.
