BRUNSWICK — Vox Nova Chamber Choir, a Midcoast-based ensemble, will present a concert of modern choral music on Sunday, June 10, at Bowdoin College. The program features modern takes on traditional melodies and forms from Cuba to Estonia, Romania and Samoa.

Composers include Veljo Tormis, Eric Whitacre, Alexandru Pascanu and Jaakko Mantyjarvi. 

Vox Nova Chamber Choir, founded in 2009 by Shannon Chase and Karen Topp, features members of the Maine Midcoast musical community, including Bowdoin College faculty and alumni. 

Chase, artistic director and conductor, is clinical assistant professor of music education and director of the university choir at Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey. A native of Maine and a former visiting faculty member of Bowdoin and Colby colleges, she maintains strong ties to Maine and continues to provide artistic vision and direction to Vox Nova. 

Associate Conductor Jennifer Hand Runge has sung in numerous community choirs throughout the Boston and New York metropolitan areas, and is a charter member of Vox Nova. She has also taught choral music. 

The concert will begin at 3 p.m. in Studzinski Auditorium. Tickets, $15,  may be purchased at the door and online at voxnovachoir.com.
