LEWISTON — The National Consortium of Breast Centers announces that Dorothy Guild from St. Mary’s Breast Health Program has received the designation of Certified Breast Patient Navigator in Imaging and Cancer.

This certification program validates Guild’s knowledge and skills in navigating a breast patient through their breast care/cancer continuum of care.

As a certified navigator, Guild guides a patient through the breast imaging and breast cancer stages with assistance from her facility’s integrated team members. She ensures her patient receives timely exam results and is scheduled for appropriate follow-up care or the next routine imaging exam.

The National Consortium of Breast Centers facilitates collaborative research opportunities on issues of breast health and has developed a set of core measures to define, improve, and sustain quality standards in breast health care programs and for quality performance in all types of breast health care facilities.
