BANGOR, Maine — A pedestrian was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Main Street in Bangor late Saturday night, and police are looking for information about the vehicle involved or its occupants.
The male victim’s identity has not yet been released.
Police are trying to find the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run, according to Bangor police Sgt. Paul Edwards. As of Sunday morning, he said police were acting on information that a small or midsize, white or light-colored sedan was traveling toward Bangor’s downtown on Main Street in the left-hand lane at the entrance to Shaw’s Supermarket when it struck the man around 10:40 p.m.
Police suspect that the vehicle may have received front-end damage to its hood and windshield.
Edwards said early Sunday that “there is no indication” that the victim was a patron at Saturday night’s Waterfront Concert featuring the Zac Brown Band.
Anyone who witnessed the accident and has information about the vehicle involved in the hit-and-run or its occupant or occupants should call Bangor police at 947-7382. Callers can remain anonymous by pressing 6 to use the department’s tip line.
Detective Larry Morrill is lead investigator on the case.
