PARIS — Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School has announced that former Olympic luger Julia Clukey will be the commencement speaker at June 9 graduation ceremony.

The graduation will be held in the Gouin Athletic Complex beginning at 7 p.m. If there is rain, the ceremony will be held indoors in the High School Gymnasium.

A total of 236 seniors will receive diplomas this year.

The senior class selected the commencement speaker as they do each year.

Clukey was born and raised in Augusta and graduated from Cony High School in 2003. She represented the USA in the 2010 Olympics in the luge event. She has announced plans to train and compete for a spot on the 2014 Olympic team.

She is a member of the Maine Beer and Wine Distributors Association’s Responsibility initiative and has visited more than 20 Maine schools since 2009 to speak about good decision-making.
