FARMINGTON — Franklin County Budget Committee voted on a $5.27 million budget Thursday, which is $85,000 less than the initial proposal of $5.35 million.

The Budget Committee voted first on the $5.27 million figure. County Clerk Julie Magoon had used an Excel spreadsheet to do the calculations on the committee’s cuts.

After adding the numbers manually, she came up with a new figure of $5.2 million. The Budget Committee then voted on that number.

When she checked the figures Friday, she found that the spreadsheet was correct in the first place.

The $5.27 million is $33,447 more than the current budget.

There is also $60,000 in the budget reserved for a first payment on a $598,300 bond, if voters approve it Tuesday, June 12. If it does not pass, the money will be removed from the budget.

The budget now moves to commissioners for a vote Tuesday, June 19.
