FARMINGTON — A local couple is charged with stealing $3,200 worth of scrap metal from a well-drilling business last month.
Nicholas St. Pierre, 29, and Kira Simot, 26, both of Farmington, were each arrested on a charge of theft by unauthorized taking or transfer Friday, Farmington Police officer Courtney Krause said.
The scrap metal was taken from the yard of Goodwin’s Well Drilling on the Farmington Falls Road over four nights in early May, she said. After the third night, Krause and Detective Marc Bowering kept watch on the fourth night but nothing happened, she said. The thieves returned the fifth night, she said.
Krause contacted several scrap metal buyers and found one in Oakland that had the stolen metal. He also had names and addresses for the people who brought it there.
When police questioned the couple they said they had permission from the company to take the metal, Krause said. The company did not give permission, she said.
After completing the investigation Friday, Krause arrested the couple, who remained at Franklin County Detention Center late Friday.
