OXFORD — Oxford Fire Chief Scott Hunter held on to his position Tuesday by 40 votes, according to unofficial results.

Residents voted 243-203 for Hunter over his challenger, Shawn Cordwell, a captain on the Oxford Fire Department. Fewer than 450 cast ballots in Tuesday’s municipal election.

On the Board of Selectmen, Selectmen Dennis Sanborn and Floyd Thayer ran uncontested for their seats. Sanborn received 318 votes; Thayer received 354.

On the Oxford Water District, Penny Lowe was uncontested and was re-elected with 434 votes. Faith Gittings, running uncontested, was elected to the SAD 17 board with 425 votes.
