NORWAY — Western Maine Health Vice President of Clinical Services, M. Patricia Cook, announces that Patti-Ann Douglas, RN, has been hired as the cancer patient navigator at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

The Cancer Patient Navigator Program was made possible by donations from community members, trustees, physicians and employees to the 2011 Annual Fund.

Douglas most recently has worked at Central Maine Medical Center as a radiation oncology nurse. Prior to that, she worked as a breast care patient navigator at the Comprehensive Care Center at CMMC and also spent six years working in hospice care. She is a Certified Patient Navigator and completed her training at Harold P. Freeman Patient Navigation Institute in New York.

Douglas will provide personalized support to patients and their families who are diagnosed with cancer. Her position will offer emotional support, and provide assistance with treatment options, including clinical trials, if available.

She lives in Norway with her husband, cat and two dogs. They have two sons who reside in Portland.
