What is it with people when they see a sign posted “Road closed,” they are sure to go through the area that is closed anyway. The sign does mean something, and for good reason.

I have a friend who lives on a road where the road washed over with water during the recent terrible rain storms. People ignored the signs and drove right through, making waves that came up over my friend’s basement windows and flooded their basement. No matter how much we would yell for drivers to slow down they would speed up and keep going.

My friend had two sump pumps going and needed a third. He had to stay continually with the pumps as the water came down into his basement until 3 a.m.

Some people did read the signs and turned around. For those who didn’t, I hope they take a moment and think about what they would do if their houses were being flooded.

We even put up yellow caution tape and people ripped it down, including a business truck, which sped up and, when it got to the other side, the driver shared a few select words and gestures. When I called the business owner, he admitted to the fact that he told them to go through and did not think it was a big deal.

What is wrong with people today? Do they not care or have a heart, or is it just pure ignorance?
