RUMFORD — A licensed clinical social worker from the Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing will provide tips on preventing skin cancer Tuesday, July 10, at Rumford Hospital.

, the center’s cancer outreach educator, will also have a Derma-scan on hand so participants can learn from their own skin the importance of sunscreen, Jane Bubar, hospital spokeswoman, said Thursday in a news release.

Bubar said that more than 1 million Americans are annually diagnosed with skin cancer.

The session will be held from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. in Conference Room C on the second floor of the hospital. There is no charge for the session, but registration is requested. To register, call the Dempsey Center at 795-8250.
