LEWISTON — The Maine Chapter of the Society for Social Work Leadership in Health Care announces that Lewiston resident Sharon Foerster, LCSW, has been awarded the Social Work Leader of the Year Award. The award was presented at the Maine Hospital Summer Forum on June 21.
The award is given to an individual who, through their leadership and work, has promoted the profession and the standards and ethics of social work in the field of health care.
Foerster is currently the program manager, geriatrics, in the Division of Elder Care Services at MaineHealth. She was the director of Elder Independence of Maine, a division of SeniorsPlus, for many years prior to her current position at MaineHealth. While at EIM, she was selected as a Practice Change Fellow (through the John A. Harford Foundation and Atlantic Philanthropies) and completed a geriatric leadership project while still meeting all of her other day to day work obligations.
