WILTON — The victim of a reported home invasion on Birch Street last week has recanted the story given to police.

The victim, an 18-year-old young woman, did know the assailants, Wilton police Chief Heidi Wilcox said. Police are investigating the new information, but no charges have been made yet.

The young woman reported she was assaulted during a confrontation about 10 p.m. on July 4 when two people came in to the home. She suffered minor injuries and was taken by a NorthStar ambulance to Franklin Memorial Hospital in Farmington where she was treated and released, Wilcox said last week.

Police said the suspects, a young man and woman, were in their late teens.

The victim told police the suspects left the home while she was in a bedroom being protected by the family dog, who bit the man on his right shin.

The Franklin County Sheriff’s Department attempted to track the two suspects with a dog.
