SANFORD — A teenager was killed Friday afternoon when he was struck by a vehicle while skateboarding, police said.

Corey Cabana, 15, of Sanford was crossing Lebanon Street near the Nason Street intersection when he was struck by a commercial vehicle, according to a news release Monday from Sanford Police Chief Thomas Connolly Jr.

Cabana was taken to Goodall Hospital in Sanford and then airlifted to Maine Medical Center in Portland, where he later died.

The accident remains under investigation.
