WILTON — Selectmen will hold a discussion Tuesday on fireworks at a resident’s written request, plus there have been complaints about fireworks use, Town Manager Rhonda Irish said Monday.

A resident requested that it be discussed at a selectmen’s meeting, she said.

The meeting will begin at 7 p.m. July 17 in the selectmen’s meeting room at the Town Office.

Irish said selectmen will also be talking about two grant applications pertaining to sidewalk improvements. One is to create safer walks for children on Depot Street with a pedestrian-activated crossing light, she said. Another is to create a sidewalk downtown in front of the library.

Selectmen will take public comments during the meeting on the applications.

The board will also discuss a street light on Route 2 across from Prospect Street that is slated to be shut off in an attempt to save taxpayer money. A resident submitted a written request to have this issue discussed by the board.

The board will also hear a presentation on downtown tax increment financing programs from John Holden of Eaton Peabody, Irish said.
