LEWISTON — Corbin Hyde and Joe Sullivan combined on a one-hit shutout as Rogers Post for a 2-0 victory in the Zone 3 American Legion playoff quarterfinals.
Hyde struck out nine and walked three while yielding only a Josh Delong infield single over six innings. Sullivan worked a 1-2-3 seventh to pick up the save.
Pastime took a 1-0 lead on Matt Bowen’s RBI single in the first. It added an insurance run in the second when Sullivan’s grounder took a bad hop over the second baseman’s head and scored Nate Berube.
Tucker Beaudoin scattered seven hits in seven innings while taking the loss for No. 8 Rogers (5-14).
Top-seeded Pastime (17-2), the defending zone and state champions, will host No. 5 Smith-Tobey in the semifinals at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday at Lewiston High School.
Mechanic Falls, Windham tied
The quarterfinal between No. 7 Mechanic Falls and No. 2 Windham was called after seven innings due to darkness, with the game tied, 4-4.
The game will resume at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, picking up in the top of the eighth.
