FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners plan to interview architectural firms in 30 minute intervals Friday to see which one would best meet the needs of the county for a new dispatch center.
Six firms submitted proposals that would include creating blueprints and bid packages to go out to contractors.
The three commissioners each favor a different firm. The Dispatch Building Committee wants Smith Reuter Lull Architects of Lewiston and Bethel. The firm has worked with the county for several years on different projects, including doing a conceptual floor plan of a dispatch center.
The purpose of the interviews is to find out what the proposals submitted by the firms mean in terms of additional fees, bottom line, time frames and other issues.
The first interview will start at 1 p.m. with Plymouth Engineering Inc. of Plymouth, Maine, which proposed a base price of $29,800. The second interview is at 1:30 p.m. with Port City Architecture of Portland. That firm proposed a base price of $39,000.
The final interview will be at 2 p.m. with Smith Reuter Lull Architects of Lewiston and Bethel. Its proposal is $44,000.
Commission Chairman Gary McGrane has asked county Clerk Julie Magoon, if she had time, if she could compile the information to make it easier to compare what each firm is offering.
