AUBURN — Paul M. Henault, 58, of Greene, passed on July 26,at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Services after a brief illness.

He was born April 15, 1954, in Lewiston, the only child of Roland and Ruth Flaherty Henault. He attended St. Joseph’s Catholic School, and during his youth served as an altar boy and was a member of the St. Joseph’s Men’s Choir.

Paul was a 1972 graduate of Lewiston High School, and attended CMVTI. Paul worked as a tool and die maker for several years before starting his own business, Henault Builders. He was a skilled carpenter and troubleshooter. He was especially proud of the work he and his partner did on the restoration and preservation of the Day/Garcelon/Johnson House in Auburn. It earned his client the prestigious statewide Annual Historic Preservation Award in 2005.

He was a talented musician playing with the groups Jude, Sunburst, Stage Coach and 7th Heaven. Paul continued his love of music through his son David’s musical achievements. He enjoyed working with wood and continued designing and creating beautiful furniture for family and in particular for his daughter Amanda.

Paul will be dearly missed by his wife of 30 years, the former Louise Bernier of Greene; son, David and fiancé, Amber Banks, of Westbrook; daughter, Amanda Rioux and husband, Steven, of Lewiston; special cousins, Jeannie and Tom Hopkins, Claire and Ray Sargent, Janice and Steve Taylor, and Mark and Lianne Henault; brothers-in-law, Roger Bernier and Michael Bernier; sister-in-law, Lisa Bernier; nephews and nieces, Scott Bernier, Jennifer Bernier, John Hunt, Joshua Hunt, Ashley Hunt and Zachary Bernier; and friend and business partner, Mike Henson.

Paul was predeceased by his parents, Roland and Ruth Flaherty Henault; his father and mother-in-law, Lionel D. and Murielle Bernier; and dear friends, Dick Haines and Peggy Marston.

The family thanks Dr. Austin and the staff at Hospice House for the loving care they gave Paul during his final days.
