AUBURN — A driver and passenger involved in a three-vehicle crash on Route 4 Monday were treated for injuries and released from a Lewiston hospital the same day.
The chain-reaction accident occurred shortly after 4:30 p.m. at the intersection of Route 4 and Lake Shore Drive.
Police said a northbound Toyota Camry driven by Melissa Brown, 20, was stopped on Route 4 waiting to turn left onto Lake Shore Drive. Behind her was a 2002 Scion driven by Amy Liberman, 33. Chester Merriam, 33, of Sumner was driving a 1995 Ford pickup northbound behind Liberman.
The truck crashed into the back of the Scion, which pushed it into the back of the Toyota, police said.
Liberman was taken to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where she was treated for injuries and released, a hospital spokesman said Tuesday.
Danika Brown, 5, who was a passenger in Liberman’s car also was taken to CMMC, where she was treated and released, according to a hospital spokesman.
The other people involved in the crash were evaluated by medical personnel at the scene.
A crash reconstructionist from Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office was called to the scene. Police said they did not believe alcohol or drugs to be a factor in the crash, which remained under investigation.
