LEWISTON — The Center for Wisdom’s Women twice welcomed special guests in June.
Pat Wolosz and Ellie Filippone made a surprise stop on their way home to Connecticut from a vacation in Acadia on June 20. Both women are Associates of the Daughters of Wisdom, a congregation of nuns who founded the women’s center in 1999. Klara Tammany, center director, is also an associate of the order.
On June 27, the center hosted a special open house for the Maine Women’s Network. It is the first in a series of “Come and See” programs that invite an area business or agency to find out about the work of the women’s center.
Participates toured the center, talked with board members and volunteers and made a “Wisdom Boxes.”
Tammany noted that the center plans to host monthly open house events for groups.
“The best way to find out who we are and what we do is to come and visit. Our hope is to get as many new people in the door as possible. The evenings are planned to be informative and relaxing.” A business, church group or agency wishing to visit should call 513-3922.
The center functions as a collaborative of women who work to build community for the purpose of bettering and enriching their lives. Through support groups, activities and programs, women have the chance to meet and network with others, build friendships, and support each other.
