FARMINGTON — James Smith, DO, will rejoin the Franklin Memorial Hospital medical staff on Nov. 5 as a provider at Franklin Health Livermore Falls Family Practice.

Until then, Smith is providing medical coverage at the practice every Wednesday on an interim basis.

Smith has provided primary care for patients since 1994. He was a provider at Farmington Family Practice from 1994 to 2010 before moving to York. Besides family medicine, his professional interests include international medicine in under-served areas.

Smith received his medical degree from the University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine. He completed his family practice residency at Eastern Maine Medical Center in Bangor. He is board-certified by the American Board of Family Medicine. He is a former board member and treasurer of the Maine Osteopathic Association and the Maine Academy of Family Physicians. From 1998 to 1999 he served as Franklin Memorial Hospital’s medical staff president.
