HOWLAND — Maine State Police, Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and the Maine Game Wardens on Saturday arrested three men they say brutally beat up two other men in town on Friday, leaving them with broken facial bones and missing teeth.

Brandon Summerson, 21, of Enfield, and Howland residents John McKinnon, 21, and Henry McKinnon, 27, all have been charged with aggravated assault.

“One of the victims has 80 facial fractures and evidence of being kicked several times in the groin,” according to an account of the assault on the Maine State Police website. “He will need reconstructive surgery.

“The other victim has numerous fractures that include a broken eye socket, broken ribs and his teeth have all been knocked out,” the Web report states “He’s in ICU [intensive care unit] with an unregulated heart beat.”

Maine State Police Sgt. David Millett and Troopers Larry Anderson and Keith Barton made the arrest at about 3:30 p.m. Saturday with assistance from Deputy Michael Knights of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Office and Game Warden Mike Boyer, district leader for the Lincoln region. Messages left for Stephen McCausland, state police spokesman, the sheriff’s office and Maine Warden Service seeking more information were not immediately returned Monday morning.

Summerson and both McKinnons were taken to Penobscot County Jail in Bangor and their bail has been set at $8,000 each, a jail official said Monday.
