BOWDOINHAM — As part of its ongoing exhibit “Three Town Artists: Carlo Pittore, Bryce Muir & Carter Smith,” the Merrymeeting Arts Center will hold a Carlofest on Sunday, Aug. 26.

A series of events will honor the late Pittore, a longtime Bowdoinham resident and maestro of the Carlo Pittore Academy, which continues to offer the figure drawing classes he started in the 1980s.

The “Three Town Artists” exhibit features many of Pittore’s oils and watercolors of town residents and landscapes. A portion of proceeds from the sale of these works will benefit the arts center.

A $10 donation is requested for afternoon events.

From noon to 2 p.m., an informal gathering of boats will go out on Merrymeeting Bay for “Yarting,” a combination of eating-drawing-boating. Kayakers, canoeists and boaters welcome. Passengers are welcome as space allows.

At 3 p.m., Edgar Allen Been will give a talk on “Carlo’s Art Activism” at the arts Center at 9 Main Street. From 4 to 5 p.m., attendees will have a chance to view the “Three Town Artists” show. 

At 5 p.m., a spaghetti supper prepared by local chefs will be served in celebration of Carlo’s love of food and Italy. Reservations must be made by Friday, Aug. 24, by calling 841-5914. Cost is $20 per person; space is limited.

At 6:30 p.m., Cheddar & Smack, a crossover modern roots and country blues band, will perform at the gazebo by the river as part of the Bowdoinham Summer Concert Series.

“Three Town Artists” will be on display until Sept. 23. The Merrymeeting Arts Center is open 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday and 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday. For more information, visit www.merrymeetingartscenter.org.
