GREENE — Base baritone vocalist Larry Gowell will perform classics and a mix of ballads, jazz, inspirational and pop music on Friday, Aug. 24, at the Araxine Wilkins Sawyer Memorial.
He will sing hits by Frank Sinatra, Bobby Darin, Elvis and Josh Groban; and songs written by Rogers & Hammerstein, Irving Berlin, George Gershwin and David Foster.
Among the songs he will perform are “The Impossible Dream,” “O’l Man River,” “My Favorite Things,” “Blue Skies,” “Mack The Knife,” “Folsom Prison,” “The Summer Wind,” “Fly Me To The Moon,” “The Way You Look Tonight,” “Ave Maria,” “You Raise Me Up,” “How Great Thou Art” and “God Bless America.”
Gowell, who also plays flugelhorn and piano, has been singing professionally for more than two years at nursing homes and other venues in Maine and Georgia. He is accompanied by professional background tracks and a high-quality sound system.
An avid supporter of the Good Sheperd Food Bank, he will donate half the sales proceeds from his two albums to that cause. CDs will be available at the shows.
Performances will be at 2 and 7 p.m. Admission is free. Sawyer Memorial is at 371 Sawyer Road. For more information, call 946-5311 or visit www.sawyer-foundation.com.
