NORWAY — Mirja M. Rainey “Mickey,” 87, of West Paris died Friday, Aug. 24, at Stephens Memorial Hospital with her daughter at her side.

She was born July 13, 1925, in South Woodstock, the daughter of Finnish immigrants, Edward and Tilda Koskela. She worked as a cook, did private house cleaning, and was a bookkeeper for private companies.

Mirja loved the outdoors, especially wildflowers and looking for unique shaped colored rocks.

Mirja is survived by her daughter, Minnie Wilson and fiancé, Ralph Norris, of Leeds; sons, Wade Rainey and wife, Dian, of West Paris and Marc Rainey and companion, Janet Richardson, of West Paris; grandchildren, Angie Henderson and fiancé, Rob Arris, Billy Farnum and companion, Jen Wilson, Tilda Kennison and companion, Kalli Pulkkinen, Scot Rainey and companion, April Sumner, Neil Rainey and wife, Brenda, Louanne Rainey and companion, Craig Rowe, Jeff Rainey and wife, Tracey and Nathan Chagnon; great-grandchildren, J.D., Dustin, Theresa, Elicia and husband, Kyle, Felicia, Crystal, Taylor, Ben, Ashley, Becca, Josh, Jacob, Ross, Nathan, Rachel, Chasity and Evan; and great-great-grandchildren, Raven, Winter, River, Jaden and Molly. Special friends, Lois Piirainen of West Paris and Bruce Welch of Sanford.

She was predeceased by her husband, Edgar I. Rainey; her parents, Edward and Tilda Koskela; brothers, Taisto and Waito Koskela; her sister, Helvi Hale; sons, Craig Rainey, Edgar “Arnie” Rainey and Gary Rainey; and grandson, Michael Rainey.
