RUMFORD — The Rumford Apostolic Church will host its third annual Family Fun Day from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 9, at the DARE park.

The event will focus on recognizing the “Working American Family,” Stephen Casey, a church member, said Tuesday in a news release.

“We want to recognize the dads who do the handyman work at home and everywhere else they are needed, and the moms, who cook, clean, teach, work and set a wonderful example for their families,” Casey said.

For the past two years, he said the Apostolic Church has focused on trying to reunite families of the greater Rumford area “for a great day of fun. This year our mission is to honor the working families of our community,” he said.

“Bringing back the spirit of America’s working class heroes, we hope not only to give out prizes for the children that participate in all our fun and games at the event, but to concentrate on valuable consideration for the parents,” he said

The usual Fun Day noon meal will be provided free, Casey said. Tables and tents will be set up. The menu features soda, hot dogs and hamburgers, and dessert.

The rain date is Sunday, Sept. 16. For more information, contact Apostolic Church Pastor David Willhoite at the church/school at 364-7747.
