JAY — The Jay, Livermore, Livermore Falls Chamber of Commerce will meet at LaFleur’s Restaurant Friday, Sept. 7, for a program on Maine’s proposed East-West highway project.
Members and guests will gather between 7 and 7:20 a.m. for networking and a continental breakfast. The business meeting will begin at 7:20a.m., followed by the program. The meeting will adjourn at 9 a.m.
Program speaker Darryl Brown of Cianbro Corp. will provide a PowerPoint presentation on the proposed East-West highway project from Calais to Coburn Gore.
The project is expected to result in greater access to global markets. The presentation is about 20 minutes and there will be an opportunity for questions.
A presentation under Member in the Spotlight will be given by Eileen Miazga, director of RSU 73 Adult Education. The office is at 13 Community Drive in Jay, under the Jay Middle School Gym.
Adult education in Maine is a statewide system of more than 100 connected learning programs and centers from Kittery to Fort Kent. Adult education programs offer courses in five major categories: business and skills training, college transitions, GED and high school completion, literacy and personal enrichment.
