PARIS — A Norway man pleaded not guilty to trafficking cocaine and heroin Tuesday in Oxford County Superior Court.

Norman Hightower, 30, faces two counts of aggravated trafficking of scheduled drugs. According to reports by Special Agent Regan Goan of the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency, a confidential informant and Goan were able to purchase cocaine and heroin in controlled buys in September and October 2011.

On Sept. 27, 2011, Goan was able to purchase two grams of cocaine for $180 in a vehicle on Main Street in Norway. At that time, Goan wrote, Hightower said he could acquire heroin as well, using the street name “downtown” for the drug.

On Oct. 6, 2011, Goan again met with Hightower. This time, on Main Street in Paris. According to the report, Goan purchased a gram of heroin for $250. Both drugs were tested and found to be cocaine and heroin, Goan wrote.

Hightower is in custody. His bail is set at $1,000 cash. If released, he is barred from use or possession of drugs.
