LIVERMORE — Selectpersons voted Monday to set the tax rate for 2012-13 at $13.40 per $1,000 of property valuation, the same as last year, administrative assistant Kurt Schaub said Tuesday.

It gives the town a $37,559 overlay, which is a little less than 2011-12. “But it is certainly an adequate number,” he said.

RSU 73 towns of Livermore and Livermore Falls were able to keep tax rates the same as last year. Livermore Falls’ rate was set Sept. 4 at $20.80. Jay, a third town in the district, increased its rate by 30 cents per $1,000 of value to make it $13.75 on Aug. 27.

Jay’s share of RSU 73’s $18.59 million school budget increased this year due to less state and federal aid and a significantly higher valuation than the other two towns. Livermore and Livermore Falls receive more state subsidies than Jay to help offset the education budget.
