AUBURN — Andrew Morong of Auburn has been appointed coordinator of Central Maine Community College’s Accelerate ME initiative.

Accelerate ME, funded largely through a grant from the Kresge Foundation, is designed to help Maine residents who have earned at least 30 college credits complete their associate degree in 12 months. The program provides participating students help with tuition costs, academic and personal counseling, and priority course scheduling.

Morong is a Bath native and a graduate of Morse High School. He earned his bachelor’s degree in social psychology from the University of Maine and is currently pursuing his master’s degree in sports management from Southern New Hampshire University. He serves as the head coach of the CMCC women’s basketball team.

In addition to CMCC, Accelerate ME is also available at Southern Maine Community College in South Portland and York County Community College in Wells. Anyone interested in learning more can contact Morong at 755-5448 or [email protected]. For more information, go online to http://www.mccs.me.edu/accelerateme.html.
