BETHEL — Selectmen have a full plate of municipal business to attend to at their 7 p.m. meeting Monday, Sept. 17, in the Town Hall.

Apparently there was a tax commitment error, wherein property taxes were undercommitted by $123,058.11, according to documents in the board’s meeting packet.

If the board takes no action Monday night, the amount will be covered by the undesignated fund balance.

The next three items involve the Bingham land baseline document and allowed uses. The board is asked to accept the 151-page document and authorize Town Manager Jim Doar to acknowledge the property conditions on behalf of Bethel.

The board is also asked to accept proposed uses on the 2,400-acre Bingham land as consistent with a consent order, and to approve a memorandum of understanding with the Bethel Water District for recreational use district land abutting the Bingham land.

Selectmen will also be asked to close Mason Street from Broad Street to Crescent Lane from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on Halloween for trick-or-treaters.

A presentation from the Sign Committee will follow. The board will then be asked to waive the winter sand bidding and award it to Tibbetts & Verrill at $7 per yard. According to the packet documents, the amount of sand needed is the same as last year: 3,500 yards.

The board is also asked to approve a sewer connection permit on Eden Lane, discuss the Angevine Pond Maintenance Plan and hear an update on the Comprehensive Plan.

In routine business, there will be public hearings for victualer’s licenses for Inmans Diner and Dairy Bar, Casablanca Cinema and Holidae House; a lodging house license for Holidae House; liquor license renewals for Rooster’s Roadhouse and Pat’s Pizza; an entertainment permit renewal for Rooster’s Roadhouse and a liquor license application for CrossRoads Diner.
