JAY — Police were called to Spruce Mountain Ski Area to investigate the removal of brass fittings from a rope tow building on the mountain. The fittings were later found stashed in the bushes near the Bunny Slope tow-rope building.
Sgt. Troy Young said he patrolled the area about two hours prior to the call coming in Sunday.
Spruce Mountain Ski Slope members were doing some work in preparation for opening. After the members reported the fittings stolen they found them near the Bunny Slope building, Young said Wednesday.
The Ski Club has seen several thefts in recent years including a compressor last year, he said.
The ski area and its buildings belong to the towns of Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls.
The club owns the equipment and operates the ski area.
