CUSHING (AP) — Maine State Police say one man is dead and another man is facing a murder charge after a shooting in the coastal community of Cushing.

Police say 48-year-old Richard Mills was shot in his home at about 8 p.m. Thursday.

Responding officers took 40-year-old Andrew Kierstead of Tenants Harbor into custody shortly after the shooting for questioning and ultimately charged him with murder. He was taken to Pen Bay Medical Center for evaluation early Friday.

Police did not disclose a possible motive.

An autopsy is scheduled.

State police and the Knox County Sheriff’s Department are investigating.
