LIVERMORE FALLS – A local woman will make a sign for Shuy Yard cemetery on Park Street, Town Manager Kristal Flagg told selectmen Monday.
Nancy Smith of Livermore Falls previously made a welcome sign for near the Leed’s line on Route 106.
Shuy Yard is one of four cemeteries the town owns. A sign that had previously hung at the yard on Hinkley Hill had deteriorated.
The cost for the new sign will be under $175, Flagg said.
Flagg showed the lettering of the sign, which will be white with a darker background.
“We should be able to get it up before winter,” she said.
In another matter, fire Chief Gerry Pineau briefed selectmen on what has been going on in the department.
All three pumpers went through annual testing and all three pumps passed, he said. The ladder truck also went through testing and passed.
Engine 3 is having its transmission looked at, Pineau said. It appears there may be a seal gone, he said. The engine is out of commission for now.
The Fire Department participated in the pep rally for Homecoming at Spruce Mountain High School in Livermore Falls. A bonfire was held on Griffin Field, he said.
Firefighters are now working with RSU 73 to organize Fire Safety Week. All three fire departments will participate in the programs offered at Jay and Livermore schools, he said.
