ANSWER: Sun Spots regrets to inform you that “The Nate Berkus Show” has been canceled. At tvseriesfinale.com it says that the Oprah Winfrey Network will rebroadcast the existing two seasons, but no new shows will be produced.

By the way, the cable company has nothing to do with what is shown on Channel 8 — it simply streams that content. Channel 8 determines local content, such as the local news, while ABC selects and controls the national broadcast content.

You could try and start a letter-writing campaign to revive Nate, but they rarely succeed. Sun Spots remembers one success, when “Cagney & Lacey” was saved by just such an effort.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Can you please tell me on what Direct TV station that I could find Pastor Joel Osteen of the Lakewood Church in Houston, Texas?

I am reading his book, “Every Day a Friday,” and I would like to listen to him. I would also like to know what time. Thank you. — Richard Pope, Buckfield

ANSWER: Although one online posting indicated Osteen was on several mainstream channels, when Sun Spots tried to verify at www.directv.com, she couldn’t find his show.

The Direct TV website does have a feature that allows you to search for the next airing of a show, but it only gives you the next one, not the whole week’s worth. So Sun Spots had to check for the show on each day for a week to be sure she got the most listings.

Using this method, she came up with several showings on the Church Channel, No. 371, including 11:30 p.m. Monday, 7 a.m. Thursday and 6 a.m. Saturday; on DayStar Channel 369 at 10 a.m. Tuesday and and on GEB Channel 363 at noon on Sunday. There may be others, but that should give you a start.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: Why is Ann Curry, who got fired from NBC, still reporting for NBC? — B., Bethel

ANSWER: Although Curry was fired from the “Today Show,” she still has a contract with NBC. TV news personnel are often contracted with the network rather than an individual show, thus you may see them filling different roles depending on staffing needs and how well they draw a particular audience.

DEAR SUN SPOTS: I watch Channel 13 news most of the time, and I just realized I haven’t seen Catherine Parrotta, Diana Ichton or Kate Barker for quite a while. Where did they go?

And on Comcast Sports Channel 24 on cable in my area, where did Lou Merloni go? He hasn’t been on for three weeks now and they haven’t mentioned him. Thanks a lot. — Flower Girl, Peru

ANSWER: Sun Spots couldn’t find anything out about Catherine, but she is no longer listed as part of the WGME Channel 13 news team.

According to Facebook and radiodiscussions.com, Diana left WGME and TV news this summer. She recently had a baby. She is also a partner in Black Fly Media, a commercial and corporate videography business. The other two partners are her husband, Jason Nelson, and Charlie Berg.

According to boards.radio-info.com, Kate left WGME, but no word on where she went or if she’s still in broadcast news.

Sun Spots could not find any indication that Lou Merloni has had any recent change in employment. At www.csnne.com, Comcast Sportsnet’s website, there are several recent entries for him. Perhaps he was just on vacation?
